Open learning exchange needs help to take our digital library platform hosted at http://library.ole.org and make it available as a Drupal distribution. The system currently relies on Solr, Tika, and OpenOffice so we want to start with a VirtualBox distribution. Ideally we would script the whole install process, building off of http://drupal.org/project/barracuda See https://ole-apps.sourcerepo.com/redmine/ole/projects/ole-toolkit for details on the project as a whole and https://ole-apps.sourcerepo.com/redmine/ole/projects/ole-toolkit/wiki/V2-4 for an overview of our goals for this release.
We have a tight deadline for an initial release by Sept. 23rd for our International Assembly in Mexico. The platform is planned to be used in several developing countries including Rwanda, Ghana, and Uruguay so an understanding of and/or interest in the challenges of building a platform for diverse use cases and stakeholders is desirable. One particular challenge we need to deal with is offline, intermittent or slow connectivity. We are open to new ideas on how to achieve our goals and want to use Drupal best practices. Currently it is a D6 site but we are interested in moving to D7 when possible, so help evaluating that would be nice as well.
We are based in Kendall Square, Cambridge and would prefer to work with someone in person but would be willing to work with the right person remotely. We have limited funding for this project so please let us know if you have discounted rates for Social Benefit Organizations or .
I will be at the Boston Drupal meeting Aug 2nd if you want to talk.
